When you see your figure: after the examination and before any treatment starts. A filling on a small cavity is not the same job as one rebuilding half a tooth, and a molar root canal has more canals than a front tooth, so an accurate estimate needs a look first. Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I get my teeth cleaned?

For most people, once every six months. If you have bleeding gums, heavy tartar, smoke, or wear braces or aligners, your dentist may suggest a shorter interval. Cleaning removes hardened tartar that brushing cannot touch, which is what drives gum disease and eventual tooth loss.

Does a root canal hurt?

The pain people associate with a root canal is usually the infection, not the treatment. The tooth is fully numbed before we begin, and most patients describe it as similar to having a filling done. Mild tenderness for a day or two afterwards is normal and settles quickly.

Can a root canal be completed in one visit?

Many can. Single sitting root canal treatment is possible when the infection is contained and the canals clean up well. Teeth with severe infection, swelling or unusual anatomy are safer treated across two visits. Your dentist will tell you which applies to your tooth after the X ray.

Do I really need a crown after a root canal?

On back teeth, almost always. A root canal treated tooth is more brittle and takes the full force of chewing, so it can fracture without protection. Front teeth sometimes manage with a filling. Skipping a recommended crown often ends with losing a tooth that was successfully saved.

I have no pain. Do I still need a check up?

Yes. Decay and gum disease are painless for a long time and only start hurting once they reach the nerve or the bone. A check up with an X ray catches them while the fix is a small filling rather than a root canal or an extraction.

Is the X ray part of the consultation?

Where the diagnosis needs one, a digital X ray is taken during your examination and the finding is explained to you on screen. If a CBCT scan is required for a complex case, that is discussed with you before it is taken. Anything chargeable appears on your written plan before treatment begins.

Do you treat children?

Yes. We handle check ups, fluoride application, sealants, fillings and milk tooth extractions for children. Appointments are paced so that a first visit does not turn into a lasting fear of the dentist.

Do you see emergencies on the same day?

We keep slots for pain. If you have a toothache, facial swelling, a broken tooth or a lost filling, call the clinic and we will fit you in as early as we can during working hours, all seven days.
